I had the opportunity today to present to the Minnesota Kentico User Group (MNKUG) on the topic of Kentico Initial Site Install, Setup and Configuration. The audience was great and asked interesting (and challenging) questions.
In my presentation I covered:
- A custom installation of Kentico 8.2, selecting options that will optimize the installed website
- Configuring User Accounts
- Naming Conventions
- Creating Page Templates – including a master page, 404 ,and sitemap pages.
- Core Site Files
- Media Libraries
- Site Configuration – Files, SMTP, redirects
- Javascript and CSS minification and compression.
- Delete/Disable default objects and page templates
- Stop/Modify scheduled tasks that don’t apply to the site
Thanks again to Brian Haukos from High Monkey for setting up the event, bswing for hosting, and Joel for suggesting that I present it. Here are my slides from the presentation, please let myself or Joel know if any questions on the presentation or Kentico in general.
